Edvard Munch – Death Struggle | Luta contra a Morte

?? Conecto. Hoje vou ser breve. Breve pois estou cansado. Chegamos no pico? Quantas UTIs disponíveis? E a crise financeira? A violência vai aumentar? Vai faltar comida? E a segunda onda?

New York Times, Financial Times, The Economist. Me dá raiva. Desconecto.

?? Log in. Today I will be brief. Brief because I am tired. I haven’t accomplished even simple tasks. It has been complicated to give routine directions. I thought it was a lack of attention, but in an article about therapy during the pandemic, I found out I am tired because of too much attention. Our brain is working in overdrive for months. We pay attention to our health, the ambulance that goes by, the numbers, the curves, the buttons on the elevator, the door handles. We pay attention trying to figure out whether we will survive. Have we reached the peak? How many available UCI’s? And the financial crisis? Will levels of violence increase? Will there be food? A second wave? Living in this mode is extremely tiring, it drains our vital force.

I also focus my attention on ducking political news. I need attention when I get online and connect with friends, work, the world, so that my attention does not get lost in endless feeds, from Twitter, Facebook, Folha de São Paulo, El País, New York Time, Globo News, Financial Times, The Economist. The list is endless. All vying for my undivided attention. All with the same somber tones, more somber by the day. I dedicate my utmost attention to deviating mentions to the eschatological manager of the mess my country is engulfed in. I get angry. I get angry with people without a face mask. I get angry when I see the national flag hanging from a balcony. The artist and writer Nuno Ramos said so brilliantly in an article at Ilustríssima “I am exhausted from being angry”. Log out.
