Course at La Ferme du Bec Hellouin in France

?? La Ferme Biologique du Bec Hellouin in Normandy, France, is a reference in the world of Organics and Permaculture. In fact, it was after reading the book “Miraculous Abundance” by the farm owners Pierre-Hervé and Perrine that I decided to venture into this new world.

From July 9 to 13 I attended their course “The Small Permaculture Farm” together with over 30 people coming mostly from France, but also from China, Spain, Italy, UK, French Guyana and Tanzania. I was mostly curious to see the farm, to observe how things are done, to photograph their fields, tools etc. (ctlsites.uga.edu)

During that intensive one week, we discussed what makes a small organic farm and how to set up your own. There was a big focus on French ways of obtaining land, the appropriate diplomas one must have and the nightmarish legislation of French Agriculture.

After a week in Normandy, I felt ready and very motivated to start rethinking about my project in Brazil.
