I used to love New York until I got to know Los Angeles a bit better and fell head over heels for the Californian metropolis. L.A. is many small cities knitted into one sprawling urban jungle. Do not try to embrace it all in one go otherwise you will sit in a freeway for hours on end. Instead, delve into its small-scale urban areas such as Venice, Silver Lake, Arts District or Santa Monica.
