Dulwich Picture Gallery

Gallery Road SE21 7AD | Dulwich, South London

Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm

Dulwich Gallery is the world’s first purpose built public gallery, founded in 1811 to showcase Sir Francis Bourgeois collection, bequeathed to the public after his death. A bit off the beaten track, it makes a great half day tour, because if you come all the way here, you better enjoy the gardens and the area around the gallery. With a mostly classic collection, there are works by Rembrandt, Canaletto and Poussin in beautiful surroundings. Once you are done with the tour, have a bite at the Gallery Café before heading to the Dulwich Outdoor Gallery, where mural and graffiti artists reinterpret on walls some of the paintings on display at the Gallery. Sunny days are perfect for a visit.
