Japan Tax-Free Shop

tokyo-travelvince-shopping-taxfreeIt is good to know that, as a temporary visitor, you can get a tax refund in many shops around Japan. If you spent over JPY 5.000, which is more or less USD 50 at any purchase, part of the tax gets back to you. Always have your passport with you when going out shopping as the shop assistant will need to see it in order to process the refund. Keep the receipts and go early to the airport the day you leave to get your money back. You will also have to show the purchased items. Look for the Japan Tax Free signs. Even convenience stores are in the scheme, so enjoy.
