Chiltern Firehouse

1 Chiltern Street W1U 7PA | Marylebone, Central London

There is always the ‘it’ hotel in London. That place where everybody who is anybody wants to stay, to see and to be seen. At the moment this hotel and restaurant is called Chiltern Firehouse, one of André Balazs hotels, the only one in Europe.

The place is a fire station refurbished to look like an intimate home. Rooms have fireplaces, the restaurant has superior service and the food is divine with fresh ingredients, healthy choices and small portions, making it ideal to go with friends on special occasions (as I did for my 40th birthday).

Make sure you book well ahead and call a few days before to reconfirm. The hotel is small so it also gets fully booked quite easy, so plan ahead if you want to be with the ‘in’ crowd in London. 😉

André Balazs is one of my idols in the business world. He managed to understand what people like so much in hotels and restaurants. When I was in hotel school I dreamt of being an André. Tyler Brûlé, Monocle Magazine‘s editor interviewed him for Monocle 24. You can listen to the interview here.
