Saturday at lunchtime
If you love food markets but hate the tourist throngs of Borough Market on weekends, than head further south to Maltby Street, not a too long walk. Following the train tracks, Ropewalk is filled with stalls selling very good food, from cheesemongers to wines, burgers and cocktails. St John and 40 Malty Street are good choices and open on weekdays as well. Have a peak at Lassco, the antique and salvaged furniture store that helps organise the event. There are amazing finds in their stock.
A TravelVince suggestion as well: since you are in the area, go visit the White Cube gallery a few blocks away, on Bermondsey Street.
