Nanta is one of South Korea’s biggest cultural successes. Since the first show back in 1997, Nanta has never stopped. Nowadays there are three Nanta theatres in Seoul and the concept travels the world, drawing huge crowds. The spectacle’s storyline is of a few chefs that have to prepare a wedding banquet in a rush. Along the way, there is music, acrobats, magic tricks, audience participation, lights and laughter. Much like the Beijing Opera and even the Blue Man Group, the show mixes elements from theatre, dance, folklore and contemporary art to create something uniquely Korean.
