Chelsea Art District

The highest concentration of art galleries in Manhattan is in Chelsea. The Art District runs along 10th and 11th Avenues from roughly W 18th up to W 28th Street. Along these blocks with converted warehouses, many underneath the High Line Park, you will find cutting edge art and some of the most important names in the contemporary art world such as Hauser & Wirth, GagosianDavid Zwirner and Tanya Bonakdar. Many are open Monday to Saturday and you just need to walk in. The app Goings on about Town from The New Yorker Magazine has the full listing of exhibitions.
