CRAB stands for Reference Center for Brazilian Handicraft and is a new cultural venue in the center of Rio dedicated to showcasing Brazilian craftmanship. From purses to hats, pots to sandals, the aim is to portray the items as objects of desire that can be purchased and used as accessories and fashion. (Diazepam) The area around the CRAB is full of other cultural institutions such as the Real Gabinete Português de Leitura and the A Gentil Carioca Art Gallery.
