Galleria Borghese

Piazzale del Museo Borghese

Tuesday to Sunday from 8:30am to 7:30pm
Tickets must be booked online in advance at TicketOne

The Borghese Gallery sits in the middle of one of Rome’s lushes green areas, the Borghese Gardens. It is Renaissance and Baroque Italy in overdrive with very important pieces by very important artists such as Bernini, Raffaello Sanzio, Caravaggio, Tiziano and Rubens, among others. Tickets must be purchased online in advance. You will not be able to buy them at the museum. I have to admit this is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited in Rome (and I know plenty). The building is as impressive as the masterpieces it houses. Don’t miss Bernini’s breathtaking sculptures: David (1623-24) made in white marble and 1.70m tall; Apollo and Daphne (1622-25) made in Carrara marble and 2.33m tall and Il Ratto di Proserpina (1621-22) made in white marble and 2.55m tall. There are frescoes and decorative pieces to keep you entertained for a good part of the day so be prepared and rest well before the visit.rome-travelvince-museums-galleriaborghese-futuregalore-shutterstock-com
