Chiesa del Gesù

Via degli Astalli 16

Daily from 7am to 12:30pm and from 4pm to 7:45pm
Best times to visit are from 4:30pm to 7pm

The project of this church has passed through many artists’ hands, including Michelangelo’s, but it was finally designed by Giacomo della Porta (façade) and Jacopo Barozzi, called “Il Vignola”. Its construction began in 1568, in Jesuit style, an architectural language between Renaissance and Baroque, which was reproduced in Italy and around the world. When visiting it, I invite you to look towards the painting in the ceiling, the Trionfo del Nome di Gesù, by Giovan Battista Gaulli reflected in a large mirror left on the floor. The perspective effect is amazing.
