DDP Dongdaemun Design Plaza 동대문디자인플라자

서울시 중구 을지로 281
281 Eulji-ro, Jung-gu | Dongdaemun

Open daily, however, each area has its own operating hours

Smack in the middle of Seoul, Zaha Hadid planned for a spaceship looking structure to fill the void left by an old stadium. The DDP is a mixture of public square, shopping mall, museum, science park and fashion incubator. The elongated and round forms are a feat of engineering and exploring the different angles and points of view will take a good hour, but a well spent one. There is a lot to see, so go at a time when you are still energetic. The DDP is a hub for local fashion and you will notice several high rises around the structure, many of them department stores. Some are really ugly, but others are quite impressive. Very high and low, as most of Seoul.
