Dia:Beacon

3 Beekman St | Beacon, upstate New York

Opening times vary throughout the year, roughly from 11am until mid-afternoon. It is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays year-round. The village of Beacon can be reached from NYC via the Metro-North Railroad with frequent services from across Manhattan.

Dia:Beacon is part of the Dia Art Foundation. In an old factory owned by Nabisco, where the food giant used to print its boxes and packaging, the foundation has installed important works of art from the artists it supports and commissions. Dan Flavin, Richard Serra and Donald Judd are just a few seminal presences in the gallery’s collection. Opened in 2003, it has been attracting art lovers not only for its quality exhibitions but for a day out of town along the banks of the Hudson River. Dia:Beacon is open year-round, however, in Spring and Fall the trip is heightened by the scenery, that changes color and evokes a time gone by.
